A fine ultra clear morning in Nozawa Onsen. Not a cloud in the sky and with a decent top up of fresh powder on the upper half of the mountain over the past 24 hours. Yamabiko area will be the top pick today for intermediate to advanced riders. The trees will offer some nice powder turns whilst the groomed runs will be smooth and fast. Beginners should find the greatest level of enjoyment in the Paradise area with a smooth consistent surface.

Yesterday was surprisingly good. Later in the afternoon when a greater depth had collected the Yamabiko trees offered some mostly untracked boot deep powder. Lower runs were hard and mostly fast, challenging for beginners and boarders but for those on narrower skis were able to lay down some strong carves.

We have an impressive forecast for the next week or so. Looks like the region will collect some substantial falls starting from tomorrow. The freezing level will decrease from around 1000m back to sea level by Thursday morning and moderate snowfalls will continue until Friday, becoming light over the weekend. Winds will remain moderate to strong over this time. In the long range another strong system looks possible for early next week.
