Nozawa Snow Report 10 March 2017: Overview
Light snow is falling across the mountain here in Nozawa Onsen this morning. Although overnight totals aren’t significant, it is more than enough to top up the slopes to an almost clean slate. Expect the snow to be slightly wetter or heavier than usual attributed to the warmish (for this area) temperatures. One can assume for some good riding up top, such as the Yamabiko trees and pistes. Expect slower conditions on the lower half of the mountain. Crowd levels are light.
Yesterday we were suprised with clear weather almost all day. The riding was good, best on piste where fast paced groomers gave some adrenaline action. Off piste and the snow was heavy and sticky thanks to the warm spring sunshine. The views of the surrounding countryside were great with deep snow right down in the flat farming plains below the high peaks.
Nozawa Snow Report 10 March 2017: Forecast
Looking ahead and there are no real warm spikes ahead indication and end to the season. Instead I can see mostly snowy conditions right through next week. Although the freezing level is around 500m higher than mid winter season. Tomorrow these light snow showers will ease and we will have a mostly fine weekend. Temperatures will warm slightly at the start of next week before more snowfalls coming into Wednesday.
