Stunning Opening Day in Nozawa! What an amazing st Stunning Opening Day in Nozawa!
What an amazing start to the season yesterday up at Yamabiko — blue skies, a touch of fresh snow, and plenty of smiling faces riding the Gondola for their first turns of the year. Almost all of Yamabiko was open, with the exception of B Course, and the conditions were hard to beat for day one.
Today:
Another sunny, crisp morning with beautifully groomed runs up top. No new snow overnight, and a few more people around as we roll into the first weekend of the season.
Week Ahead:
From Dec 3–5, the forecast is looking fantastic. Nozawa is expecting solid snowfall and very cold temps for three straight days — perfect for building the base and hopefully opening more terrain soon. Fingers crossed! 🤞
We also had a great night in the village with top chefs hosting a gastronomic celebration across several restaurants — plenty of happy, hungry skiers and boarders enjoying amazing food and wine.
If you’re thinking of coming up early to enjoy these conditions, you can book instantly here:

Winter is moving in step by step. Stay tuned — this week could get exciting. ❄️
Resort opens tomorrow and every man and his dog wi Resort opens tomorrow and every man and his dog will be lining up :) Actually probably won’t be too many people so early in the season but will be interesting to see.
Waking up to an overcast day here in Nozawa. Rain down in the village but the weather man and cams are showing snow up top with 14cm forecast for today into tonight. That should pave teh way for an amazing sunny day tomorrow with some fresh snow for the first day of the season! The Operations for tomorrow
Lifts:
* Nagasaka Gondola: 8:30 – 15:30 (last down 16:00)
* Yamabiko Quad: 8:45 – 15:30
* Yamabiko No.2 Quad: 8:40 – 15:40
Open Runs:
* Yamabiko A, C, D, E (A & C close at 15:20)  * Conditions may change with snow
* Some narrow/uneven spots & exposed ground Not really any snow in town now as that previous dump has melted away, pretty typical of the early season. Snow Forecast:
A decent snow system is expected to move in from mid next week. Some big numbers dropping from Wednesday with about 60cm on the forecast at present. Fingers crossed—this could help open more terrain, including Uenotaira, which would be great news for beginners looking to get their first turns of the season. The town is starting to come to life now and more and more seasonal staff and early guests arriving. In 3 short weeks everything will be in full swing. Check out more on the resort here; https://www.nozawaholidays.com/ski-resort/course-information/ ❄️ Your first run of the season awaits at Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort! See you on the slopes!

Autumn is slowly losing the battle with Winter in Autumn is slowly losing the battle with Winter in Nozawa Nozawa Onsen Snow Report – November 22, 2025
❄ Another fresh top-up overnight!
Nozawa woke to a beautiful sight again this morning — another nice little dump of fresh snow up on the upper mountain. The peaks are looking whiter by the day, and with the cooler temps settling in, the long-term outlook is really starting to take shape. Winter is slowly but surely locking in, and the mountain crews are gearing up for a strong season ahead. No fresh snow in the village itself, but you can definitely feel that crisp winter bite in the air. Up top, the snow base is steadily building, and if this pattern continues, we could see some excellent early-season conditions before long. If you’re planning a trip, now’s the perfect time to book your ski and snowboard rentals.
Nozawa Central Rentals has you covered with a great range of quality gear, knowledgeable rental technicians, and even a ski locker right on the slopes for maximum convenience.

The forecast looks sunny the next few days with a bot of snow expected Tuesday Night then regular top ups every few days. The resort should most likely open in a week! Saturday the 29th could see Yamabiko at least ready to roll.

❄ First report of the season!
Winter is officially making its debut in Nozawa Onsen! The village saw its first snow yesterday, dusting rooftops, streets, and trees with a delicate white coating. The whole scene is pure postcard material — perfect for an early-season stroll with a warm drink in hand.
🏔 Mountain Conditions:
Up on the slopes, the snowfall has been even more generous. Higher elevations are now blanketed with around 30cm of fresh early-season powder, and a few keen locals have already hiked up to sneak in some pre-season turns.
It’s another picture-perfect morning up there today. Check out the webcams — they’ll make you want to head up and dive in:

The resort has announced it plans to run the Gondola from November 29th, snow or not. With a decent base now set and more snow expected around the 26th, there’s a real chance lifts could be rolling on the last weekend of November. Stay tuned.
