Since the early hours of today, we’ve seen heavy snow falling across Nozawa Onsen. A huge storm is taking shape right above us, with strong wind gusts and lightning; a rarity at this time of year in Nozawa Onsen. Already there is 20cm of fresh up the top and we’re expecting heavy snow to continue throughout the day with nearly 50cm predicted for the top of the mountain and around 25cm down in the village. Visibility is poor today but that’s the compromise we make when the snow is falling like this.

The Skyline run opened yesterday, giving skiers and boarders another way to head back home after a day up the top. Today we’re seeing the opening of a number of other pistes so get out and explore some new terrain. Some of you may be keen to venture off piste with this fresh snow. There are still some hazards due to the base not being deep enough yet so please make smart decisions.
