Nozawa Snow Report 12 March 2017: Overview
Today we have some brisk sunshine sweeping across the Nagano plains. The winds are light and cold overnight temperatures have ensured that the snow from yesterday has remained in excellent condition. Although most areas are tracked thanks to the weekend crowds there will be a few pockets of untracked powder through the trees. Expect the day to warm later on as we come under the influence of a light southerly airflow.
Yesterday was certainly the best day of spring so far. Although it was crowded as expected for a clear, snowy Saturday, the snow was sensational. Deep powder across the resort that remained in excellent condition thanks to only patchy sunshine and drifting clouds. It definitely still felt like winter across the resort.
Nozawa Snow Report 12 March 2017: Forecast
If this week is anything to go by then next week will be another cracker. After the warm spell over the next two days snowfalls will resume and look to be downright heavy on Wednesday. I wouldn’t be suprised if 30-40cm falls on this day. Following this snowfalls will continue into the second half of the week becoming lighter in intensity over time and eventually clearing by next weekend.
